Last Train into Dushanbe (music)
[audioplay title="Last Train into Dushanbe"]http://www.jasontudor.com/wp-content/uploads/Jason-Tudor-Last-Train-into-Dushanbe.mp3[/audioplay] I tend to write in a lot of different directions. Writing lyrics (and music) are two of those directions. I don’t do that often, but I got an idea in my head and had to run with it. You can listen to it on the player above. These are the first song lyrics I’ve written and the first time I’ve written in some time. I also wrote the tune to accompany the lyrics. This tune …
Kicking Caffeine
There were cases of it. Flimsy thin cardboard shells holding gleaming blue cans of the drink of the next generation. The first few times 14-year-old me hung out with my friend, I noticed he and his mother kept cases of the stuff on the floor. Never regularly a soda drinker, as my friend and I grew closer, I visited more often and started drinking more and more. Eventually, I got hooked on it. Throughout my military career (about 22 years), I guzzled …
Meet Vorpal, my assassin
Click for a larger version. Illustration by Daniel Picciotto. Character & Likeness (c) 2011 Jason Tudor. All Rights Reserved. Meet Vorpal. She’s an assassin in a graphic novel project. Right now, what I have is a very basic plot, three scenes and some history (including a tie to the American Wild West of the late 1800s). The demise of the virtual small book seller?
I recently read about the demise of a company that makes an eBook reader. That company, BeamItDown software, made a product called iFlowReader. The company is going to stop making the reader. Why? “We cannot survive selling books at a loss and so we are forced to go out of business. We bet everything on Apple and iOS and then Apple killed us by changing the rules in the middle of the game.” The rule change came when Apple decided …

Return of the Mack!
Mark Morrison reference aside, I’m back on the air. The website has been down since the middle of March. The fusion generators failed, the warp core melted and we had to push the controls to impulse power (translation: it needed a redesign; the other last two years). Plus, I needed to simplify. The WordPress template is store bought. It still needs a few tweaks and squeezes, but it’s passable for the new look going forward. The feed should be the …

Spring Cleaning for the Website
Spring is Bavaria is in full force. That means Spring cleaning in more than one location, including my current manuscript. It also means a tune up for this website, which has been a bit hodgepodge over the past seven months. I need to get it focused. In doing so, I’ll debut you the cool new logo a friend designed for me (which is currently in my Twitter feed). That will be part of the redesign and rebranding effort. It also means I’ll be taking the …
