My Web Comic Debut

August 8, 2008 | Announcements, Blog and Web site, Self-Promotion, Works in Progress

I just created my first Web comic. It took about 39 years. But here it is. The weekly strip is called "Brothers in Virtual Arms."  It's about five guys who play too many video games, watch too many movies and watch sports too much. Here's the link: http://bva.jasontudor.com Subscribe to a feed!

Graphic novel draft renders

June 25, 2008 | Comic Books, Jake Goblin, Self-Promotion, Works in Progress

I'm pressing forward with my graphic novel.  I'll be using a few different pieces of software to create it.  Primarily, the artwork will be built in 3-D programs.  In particular, I'll be using Poser, Carrara and others to build almost everything on the pages. Here's a sample of some of the work.  The render of the main character uses props (the guns, specifically) I did not create.  So, I created him his own weapon.  That's the other renders you see here.  The gun needs textures still, so it's a draft at best.  It's taken about 10 hours of actual creation time, but much of that is learning 3-D modeling, too. The gun also needs a name.  Any ideas? [gallery=15]

New Poetry Project

April 30, 2008 | Announcements, Poetry, Self-Promotion, Works in Progress

Over on the Absolute Write forum (where I was named poet laureate recently; thanks AW!), I've started a new poetry project.  Like William Haskins' amazingly influential and riveting Blue Rock project, The Gunfighter Hollis Brown Poetry Project looks to build mythology of a fictional Western figure named Hollis Brown.  There are some tacit rules, but mostly, I'm looking to get some new people involved in poetry. Is that you?  If so, click here and contribute something in whatever poetic form you choose.  You'll need to register on the AW forum first, but I recommend that anyway if enjoy or want to learn anything about writing of any kind (and I mean any kind, from novels to cook books). Help me create Hollis Brown and help yourself to writing and reading some great poetry

Project Machinima: Update #3 (I think)

January 29, 2008 | Project: Machinima, Works in Progress

All the voices are in and they sound fantastic!  I can't give these guys enough credit for this.  It's great work.  I'm on Scene 4 now.  The footage and sound mix well. Over the weekend, my computer got hit something called Vundo.  I mistakenly deletely some crucial DLLs.  Ihad to reload Windows and just about everything else.  However, unlike my last crash (occuring when the main hard drive failed), I have all the data.  I'm reloading all my software now.  Needless to say, it's delayed production a few days. I've also decided incorporate some Google Earth stuff into the mix (he says, checking the license; should be OK).  I'll have a separate post on Google Earth and my utter love of the program later today.

New film footage

January 22, 2008 | Announcements, Project: Machinima, Works in Progress

Here's some new test footage from the machinima project. No sound.  This is more screen test footage, but shows two characters having a conversation.  I haven't worked with the camera on this scene yet, which happens near the middle of the film.  Thsi piece comes from "The Movies," and is tagged as much at the end of the cut.

Audition tapes received

January 13, 2008 | Announcements, Project: Machinima, Works in Progress

Thanks to everyone who emailed an audition for the machinima project.  I haven;t listened to all of them yet.  I;m waiting until Monday night to do that.  However, I can't say enough how excited I am by the response.  You'll be told Tuesday if you're in or not!

Voice Auditions underway

January 10, 2008 | Announcements, Project: Machinima, Works in Progress

I've started voice auditions for the five speaking roles in the machinima feature I'm producing.  I advertised on machinima.com and also on the Absolute Write forums.  I figured I ought put the ad here, too.  Here it be, edited for this post: I'm creating an animated feature that has a no-kidding script that should run between 10 and 15 minutes. I'm building it using nothing but video games. The genre is called machinima. If you've seen 'Red vs. Blue', you're in the ballpark. It uses multiple video game platforms. Synopsis: This film is about a father who must win an air race to save his family's ranch. There are some early runs of video here. Goal is to eventually show the film in Georgia short film shows (and beyond) and contests; and also to see if I can do it.

New machinima footage

Here's a lap around the race course that will be featured at the end of the film.

New machinima footage

January 6, 2008 | Project: Machinima, Self-Promotion, Works in Progress

This is raw footage I've captured for possible use in the machinima film I'm creating.  I love the sound of the aircraft.  The footage is from X-Plane.  The aircraft is a Gee Bee racer.  I'm controlling the aircraft and the camera. :-)

Just finished …

January 3, 2008 | Announcements, Project: Machinima, Self-Promotion, Works in Progress

The draft of the script for the machinima.  Now, it's on to revisions.  I'm also revising for a third time my novel.  More on the machinima script in the next update.
