Here's a few photographs I shot this weekend. Annabelle and I had some time together, so I managed to sneak in a few of her. I covered a small area around my house. As always, comments welcomed.

I just got this note from the National Museum of the United States Air Force:
The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force will be opening an exhibition of photographs by Air Force, Air Force News and Joint Operations photojournalists on 1 May 08. We are trying to locate all of the photographers whose work will be featured in this exhibit to send out formal invitations very soon.
Your name matches one on the list as a photographer who will be featured in this exhibit ...
Also, I got my invitation in the mail today! The premiere is May 1. I won't be able to make it, but, if you're in the area and can stop by, do and let me know what photos they used, have a peek at the photo I shot, which is also shown above. The photo, taken in New Orleans just a few days after Hurricane Katrina, is of an Airmen attending to a woman who would later be medivac'd out! Thanks Air Force Museum!
Here's a link to the museum's Web site: http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/ ETA: Also adding a link sent to me by the museum of the full collection of photos, here.

Happy 3rd anniversary to me and my wife, Denise. I met Denise in the Azores. She is absolutely the most wonderful woman I could ever have in my life. Just the best. I love you the most, baby! We've got about 90 more years to celebrate together, so, congrats to both of us on Year 3!

This is raw footage I've captured for possible use in the machinima film I'm creating. I love the sound of the aircraft. The footage is from X-Plane. The aircraft is a Gee Bee racer. I'm controlling the aircraft and the camera. :-)

The draft of the script for the machinima. Now, it's on to revisions. I'm also revising for a third time my novel.
More on the machinima script in the next update.

Like many, you're probably feeling obligated to some "resolutions." You know -- those never-to-be-fulfilled wishes, hopes and dreams you create after two barley pops, a handful of Wheat Thins and a game of Trivial Pursuit the night before the new year begins.
We all have goals. The new year is the natural watermark for "starting fresh" on those goals. I have a few. Here they are:

I'll be participating in National Novel Writing Month. My work will be called "Milwaukee Deep." My profile is here if you want to keep up with the word count. Should be a great est for me. Not that I have problems staying on deadline. It's that I have a 2 year old. :-) The overall site is located at www.nanowrimo.com.

I've been traveling and had my mind on family and friends the past couple of weeks. Plus, after the Florida blog, I was a tad spent. I should have something new posted before Friday.
For those of you looking for the podcast, I'll be postponing it for at least another month.

I love music. I waste a lot of time listening to it. Dissecting it. As time has gone by, I've gathered a lot of useless knowledge about music. So, that said, I'm going to do a feature -- let's say once a month -- where I listen to a CD in my collection (or a collection of MP3s from the PC) and offer some insight. Right now, the CD collection stands about 500 strong, including new stuff. The MP3 vault (all legal, too) is 13.7 days long, according to iTunes.
This will probably be a podcast (since text doesn't really work so much for audio), and the whole idea will be to look back on a record or set of songs that was just pretty damn good. Don't worry -- I've even got a catchy title: 'RePlayed'. I'll need to check the legalities of playing the songs or bits of songs for you. And so on. It will be featured here on this blog. Look for the first podcast to be Oct. 1. Not sure what the first compilation will be, but I promise it won't suck.

With just a four-hour ride to make, I'll be in Gainesville, Fla., for the game between the Florida Gators and the Troy University ... whatever Troy University's mascot is called is called. To be fair to myself, I haven't Wikipedia'd the university yet, but i do remember a lot of officers in the Air Force having earned their degrees and commissions as part of the ROTC program from that school.
In any case, I'll be playing media person, shooting bunches of new sports and people photography. Most of this will be used in a newspaper in Hawaii, with some going elsewhere. I'm not sure where you'll be able to see the pix yet (I've stripped my gallery bare). However, I'll figure that out before I go.
Meanwhile, I owe you a Raiders season preview. I also know Mr. Cowherd is doing the Penn State game Friday, but I'll probably miss a full critique due night-before socializing and reuniting with my buddy, Mark Munsey, after a five-year drought. Speaking of Mark ...
I've been trying to coax him into blogging for several years. This may be the jumping off point. I'll be blogging my adventures via my Blackberry and you'll be able to catch those here. I may also give Mark here. We'll see if he uses it. He drinks a lot. Just sayin'. :-)
