I just created my first Web comic. It took about 39 years. But here it is.
The weekly strip is called "Brothers in Virtual Arms." It's about five guys who play too many video games, watch too many movies and watch sports too much.

A few snapshots with my Olympus Stylus 710 (which is dying) of Anchorage, the Elmendorf Air Show (Arctic Thunder) and more. The include the bear Fred and I stumbled upon, a Can Am Spyder and the bald eagle. Video is forthcoming. Enjoy.

We took Annabelle to a carnival set up in the parking lot of a strip mall Wednesday night. She loved it. And you get to see it. Video's below. Enjoy.

I'm pressing forward with my graphic novel. I'll be using a few different pieces of software to create it. Primarily, the artwork will be built in 3-D programs. In particular, I'll be using Poser, Carrara and others to build almost everything on the pages.
Here's a sample of some of the work. The render of the main character uses props (the guns, specifically) I did not create. So, I created him his own weapon. That's the other renders you see here. The gun needs textures still, so it's a draft at best. It's taken about 10 hours of actual creation time, but much of that is learning 3-D modeling, too.
The gun also needs a name. Any ideas?

I bought a pick-up truck. I said goodbye to my 2005 Scion xB and bought a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT quad cab. It's black with fantastic chrome accents. It probably gets between zero and very little miles per gallon. However, I'm very happy with the purchase. Denise is, too. Let me explain.
We've been doing plenty of tasks to make our home better. I'm laying a slab of cement as we speak. We recently made some big changes to our master bedroom. We're going to make some changes to the master bathroom. A myriad other things happened and happening. Key here is: we could have used a pick-up truck. That's especially true moving furniture, and much more.

I'm using Twitter as a sort of microblog now. You'll find an RSS feed of all my tweets on the right. I can update Twitter from my phone. We'll see how it goes. If you're paying attention, drop me a comment here.

Thanks to photographer and all around good guy Rick Vasquez at Stars & Stripes. He let me know that a photo of me holding up a child from the Make-A-Wish foundation. The Air Force did a number of charity events while in Santiago, Chile, and this was one I was involved in as the photographer. Here's the link:

On a side note, S&S has really transformed it's operations over the last 10 years. And it's still a great read.
Thanks, Rick!

Over on the Absolute Write forum (where I was named poet laureate recently; thanks AW!), I've started a new poetry project. Like William Haskins' amazingly influential and riveting Blue Rock project, The Gunfighter Hollis Brown Poetry Project looks to build mythology of a fictional Western figure named Hollis Brown. There are some tacit rules, but mostly, I'm looking to get some new people involved in poetry.
Is that you? If so, click here and contribute something in whatever poetic form you choose. You'll need to register on the AW forum first, but I recommend that anyway if enjoy or want to learn anything about writing of any kind (and I mean any kind, from novels to cook books).
Help me create Hollis Brown and help yourself to writing and reading some great poetry

Recently, the Absolute Write forum folk named me the forum's Poet Laureate. It's a three month stint and runs from now until June 15. It's an exciting honor. There's a lot of poetry submitted for critque to the forum and the forum is an active supporter of all things poetry.
As part of the naming, the AW forum asked me 20 questions about the how's and why's of why I write poetry. I've copied and pasted these below, but you can also link directly to the post here. In any case, some answers might surprise you. Others won't. Hopefully, I didn't bury myself under the weight of my own hyperbole.
But before you get to that, this is a great time to plug my poetry book "Vibrating Moonlight" available at LuLu.com. The person who sends me over 100 copies sold gets a free coffee mug. And now, them questions.

Here's a few photographs I shot this weekend. Annabelle and I had some time together, so I managed to sneak in a few of her. I covered a small area around my house. As always, comments welcomed.
