I've posted 10 of the 157 I kept (i shot about 200) during the Florida Gators vs. Troy Trojans game Sept. 8 in this photo album. I'll talk about sideline access and the ettiquette of that tomorrow. For now, enjoy the photos.

So, I did end up leaving just as the third quarter started. The game got more interesting, I understand. However, more interesting: just before the half ends, Mark's no where to be found. Not cool. I've been abandoned on the sidelines. That's when I broke it to him that I was going to drive back to Centerville tonight. Mark said, "Good luck," and walked off. Not a good ending on his part, but that's Mark. The drive home took 3 1/2 hours and I managed to get here, take a shower and bang out this final Gainesville post for you.
By the way, I LOVED Gainesville. Great town. I'll also post my photos as soon as I get them processed.

Decide to drive home tonight. Nothing gained by staying. Markl had a different agenda and I'm too old to keep up with that. My cab driver and I are talking over the radio broadcast and Troy just scored to cut it to 49-23. Gators have also brought back the first string. That's all for the Gainesville blog. I'll post a more robust post on my sideline experience Monday.

It's halftime. The Troy band is ready to play. I've shot about 200 photos. My knees are killing me (you have to kneel on the sidelines; don't get crazy with that thought). Mark's camera battery went dead at the start of Q2. He forgot the spare in the room. It's been all Gators, btw. I'm thinkin' about packing up and heading home tonight. Mark will want to go on a pub crawl and I'm not up for that. Not sure if it's worth staying for the 2nd half. Troy's band sounds good though. Did anyone catch me on TV? :-)

About an hour before kickoff. We walked almost 2 miles so Mark can go into a local bar and drink a beer. We lost our way a bit and I'm fairly sure I'm getting blisters. We just tried to get into the first bar and the bouncer asked for our camera bags and $5. No chance I'm surrendering my bag. But Mark has decided to go in by himself to get the beer. I stand outside and wait for him less than an hour before the game starts. Meanwhile, there is a rash of prosteltizing in front of Ben Hill Griffin stadium. Even a band of Hari Krishnas. Scalpers run amok. In case you're wondering, I'm not drinking because I'm working, at least sort of. If we were going to do the college bar scene, we probably should have done that before we started press pass negotiations. But, I'm following Mark's lead which means I'm standing outside Gator City sportsgrille blogging to you and getting a bit anxious to get on the field.

Mark gets his pass! A-mazing. Of course, we'll never be able to come back again due to Mark's scorched earth effort. :-) Were off to the field ... First we have to find our way on.

We just finished lunch in the press box. We met the guy who provides Urban Meyer his headset communications. Nice guy. Great story. Mark realized too late that he should have asked for a field pass (the one that I have). Since we've arrived, he's been doing his btest whirling dervish to get one. No luck. I have no idea why he just did get what he wanted the day he asked. He confuses me this way. But, did I mention that he drinks heavily? Anyway, we're about to sit a bit here then head down to the field. I think Mark just asked someone else to help him out with the press pass. Geez, it's like taking my mom to the mall with me.

Were about 30 minutes before we can get our press passes. It's drizzling like it might in London. There's some very bad music playing created by fans. The souvneirs are plentiful. And for now, that's it.

Saturday starts looking for lunch. I slept the full night one shoulder and it feels like its been through a UFC fight. No bars last night; I got too tired. My routine does not match with Mark's plus he's still on Hawaiian time. Game is T minus six hours; we have to be at the stadium in three. And because of some strange negotiation, we need a second photo pass vs a press box pass. Troy vs. Florida live! It's fantastic!!!

After driving a collective 7,500 miles in and around the Gainesville area, we firsr ended up at an Alehouse. I scarfed the eastern seaboard out of clams and oysters. Apparently now we're looking for a divy bar where crack, heroin and George Michael like sex acts supposedly occur. More tomorrow.
