Doubting Thomas audio interview

October 17, 2007 | Announcements, Music Review, Warner Robins, Works in Progress

For some freelance work that I'm doing, I recently interviewed the band Doubting Thomas.  They played at the Georgia National Fair, where I caught one of their shows.  The band is the only Catholic fath-based group in the southeast and trying to carve itself a nice niche.  I think you'll like the interview, which I've linked, hopefully correctly, below.

Return of a great song

October 16, 2007 | Music Review

"Big Hard Sun' was one of my favorite songs from the 1980s.  Now, it's returned, apparently on the soundtrack to "Into the Wild" and redone by Eddie Vedder.  Both versions are pretty good.  However, I do prefer the original.  You can view the YouTube original here and catch Eddie Vedder's version with some movie drop ins here.

‘RePlayed’ podcast debut

September 13, 2007 | Announcements, Blog and Web site, Music Review, RePlayed, Self-Promotion

I love music.  I waste a lot of time listening to it.  Dissecting it.  As time has gone by, I've gathered a lot of useless knowledge about music.  So, that said, I'm going to do a feature -- let's say once a month -- where I listen to a CD in my collection (or a collection of MP3s from the PC) and offer some insight.  Right now, the CD collection stands about 500 strong, including new stuff.  The MP3 vault (all legal, too) is 13.7 days long, according to iTunes. This will probably be a podcast (since text doesn't really work so much for audio), and the whole idea will be to look back on a record or set of songs that was just pretty damn good.  Don't worry -- I've even got a catchy title: 'RePlayed'.  I'll need to check the legalities of playing the songs or bits of songs for you.  And so on.  It will be featured here on this blog.  Look for the first podcast to be Oct. 1.  Not sure what the first compilation will be, but I promise it won't suck.
