Bye bye Scion, hello truck

Represenation of my new truckI bought a pick-up truck.  I said goodbye to my 2005 Scion xB and bought a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT quad cab.  It’s black with fantastic chrome accents.  It probably gets between zero and very little miles per gallon.  However, I’m very happy with the purchase.  Denise is, too.  Let me explain.

We’ve been doing plenty of tasks to make our home better.  I’m laying a slab of cement as we speak.  We recently made some big changes to our master bedroom.  We’re going to make some changes to the master bathroom.  A myriad other things happened and happening.  Key here is: we could have used a pick-up truck.  That’s especially true moving furniture, and much more.

However, we’ve also been pretty good eco-citizens.  We recycle.  We’ve both owned fuel efficient cars our entire collective lives.  So, while the truck will gulp gas, it’s not the primary car.  Further, I have no guilt about owning it since I’ve done my part and still do my part of the enviroment in many other ways.  So, I supposed I’m spoiling myself a bit, finally capitalizing on something I’ve coveted for a while.

And, yes.  We got the comments: “you’re trading in a wildly fuel efficient car for a pick-up truck.”  Answer: yes.  It’s funny.  The dealership we bought the truck from, Williams Automotive (I HIGHLY recommend it), also had scooters on sale.  We’re thinking about a scooter, too.  In any case, I love the truck.

That said, the accompaying photo is not mine, just a representation.  I’ll have some shots of my Raider Nation black-and-silver truck soon.
