I love this new podcast I’m involved with. Love it. For one, it gets me back podcasting and I’ve always loved doing radio. It also allows me to unleash my views on something I love dearly, science fiction. That means talking about books, films, TV shows, comic books and actual science happenings. However, the best part is just being able to sit with two good friends and throw this stuff back and forth like monkeys flinging their poo.
I’ve known co-host Keith Houin for almost 16 years, but had no idea about his passion for all things science fiction and/or geek until recently. He’s funny, passionate and brings a down to Earth approach to almost everything he talks about. Michael Wistock is as close as brother to me. We’ve known each other since the start of high school. We can discuss anything. We bring you a WEALTH of past and current experience. Plus, Michael’s a bit of an insider (shhhh …).
Yes, we talk geek stuff, but we interject from real life too. We don’t want the canvas to be overcrowded with minutia about the bobbles and switches on Iron Man’s suit or wondering what Twiki from “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century” mined. Really, we talk on more broad terms and delve in where we can. And if we suddenly start talking about real life things that relate to those things — like Michael’s sincere attachment to “Star Wars” and the values it holds — that works too.
It also allows me to express some views on my writing. Much of what I’m writing lately deals with science fiction. So, I can express some of that through the show while picking up ideas from you and our listeners. Those listeners have now passed the 200 mark. It gets me thinking of new ideas and gets my creative juices racing on new ideas.
After four shows, that ain’t shabby. We’ll work harder to bring that number up even further. Sometimes we’re vulgar. Many times we’re funny. Most of the time, we’re worth listening to each and every week. Plus, we’re getting good reviews so far, even a few “up” votes on reddit.com.
