I’ll be on a boat soon. It also means I’ll be away for a good while. That doesn’t mean I don’t have blog posts forthcoming. Although my boat sails Sunday, I’ve scheduled a few posts for the time I am gone. I hope you’ll stay tuned. When I return, I’ll offer some impressions and push you photos. In the meanwhile, let’s get to some cruise/boat/ship and other variety plate items:
Here’s the ship that’s taking us.- We’re stopping here, here, here (but taking a tour to see this and this), here and here.
- I want to hear this when I board, this while I’m on it, and this when I leave.
- At some point this will probably pop into your head as you read this post. Epic beard. (Warning: dirty words and unendorsed confederate flags!)
- This is the only other large boat I’ve been on, though while in Hawaii and Midway Island, I floated on a few of these with my stepfather.
- For the expectations of my first day on the ship, let’s throw it to Liesel for an update. Liesel? (I’ll have a post that talks about this next week.)
- And, to close out the boating portion of our show, for the ladies … Leo
My Predction for the Raiders Game
It’s been while for this and the Raiders have been up and down more than an Empire State Building elevator. The Denver Broncos have a new head coach but are supposedly returning to their old ways of doing business. That includes hiring John Elway to help run the team. So, it’s a team in flux. I’ve never believed Kyle Orton threw a great pass or had the field acumen to do anything significant. He’s a journeyman passer and thrived under the tutelage of Josh McDaniels and staff. I think that honeymoon ends (although the offensive and defensive schemes should go unchanged). The Raiders have led the league in defense, but, like many teams, are fairly banged up in almost all areas, especially the secondary. Quarterback is still a mystery position. Jason Campbell can manage games and hope that the Darren McFadden/Michael Bush combo works to full capacity. All that said, this feels like one of those close, traditional Raiders-Broncos rivalry games that will end RAIDERS 20 BRONCOS 17.
The last few paragraphs of my manuscript
From Galactic Milk:
“Do nothing my friends … We’ve started the clock and our messiah is speaking. This is how we foretold we would end.” Goodgoodman said, but then he was quieted by a pair of his minions.
For an instant, Larry thought about moving the act of having his face smashed into a water fountain to the top of the list, but here it was, the worst way he thought he could absolutely maim himself: speaking in public.
For about 75 percent of the world, speaking in front of a group of people for any reason at all held a more terrifying standing than being struck by lightning and having to endure a weekend marathon of “The Ghost Whisperer.” Larry felt himself no different. Could he have grown into both a print and television correspondent, then his career would have taken him places he never expected. Larry could not, however bring himself to sit in front of a camera knowing there were thousands if not millions of eyes staring at him. And he guessed there were thousands of eyes staring at him now. However, something steeled him as he stood staring at any number of people who could injure, maim or kill him in any number of ways. For this moment, he could have taken the torture of CBS prime time Sunday television.
“This is senseless Larry! We’re going to die anyway! They’ve armed the armageddon devices and they will not turn them off! We can help you get away!” Sheets yelled. Larry let it ring in the air. Everyone wanted to help him getaway, like they were travel agents or getaway car drivers.

Oh my gosh I am SO jealous! Your cruise is THE trip I want to take. It hits all the countries I long to see. Even Dubrovnik. I’m actually part Croatian and am intrigued about a land full of people who have my features. :)
I can’t wait to see the pictures! Also, thanx for Leo. *drools*
