Before I mention the three projects, I wanted to mention the #writerchat on Twitter Sunday. Met some fantastic new people. Fortunately, much of the advice steered clear of the fortune cookie motivational stuff. It hit squarely on productivity and reality. I’m glad to have offered a few things as a working journalist and aspiring fiction writer.
Now, those three projects (which I am proud to have narrowed down from many):
- A set of comic books. I’m working with an artist in Australia trying to help his vision come alive. It’s all about special operations, Navy SEALs, honor, and many other great themes. This is priority one, as it gets me to a space I’ve always wanted to work: the comic book industry. I’m currently outlining based on the artist’s ideas. I’d written an initial synopsis but realize it veered off course a bit too much. After Skyping with him, I feel like we’re headed in the right direction.
- Graphic novel. I have a lot of imagery in my head for this. I’m also going to be experimenting visually with how it will look. But, it feels concrete and feels like it could go further than just this one idea. I need to flesh out the middle and end. The beginning isn’t so strong. Tentative title is “Vorpal.” The main character is an assassin.
- Galactic Milk. I’m finally in the home stretch with this and expect it to be finished before November. This is my bit of humor/Science Fiction. Gotta find a market for it.
I’m also beginning the process of rewrites on “Breaking Enigma,” but still need to walk through it one more time and make notes. Admittedly, I’ve struggled with both time management and a bit of confidence of late. I think that’s passed. On we go.
In other news, wrapped up a concrete Oktoberfest visit in Munich. What’s up your way?
